Encouraging future filmmakers with SIGN funded competition

We’re Rolling! Bradford Young Filmmakers Challenge is a short film competition for young people aged 11 or above in Bradford. Supported by funding from the Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN), the project has been set up by award-winning grassroots production company, Northern Fortress Films, in partnership with SkillsHouse Bradford.

Louisa Rose Mackleston, Director at Northern Fortress Films, is leading the challenge. She said, ‘It’s a community-led initiative to help more young people get into the screen industries by giving them key digital and storytelling skills, as well as providing them with careers advice and workshops. I’m so excited to screen their films this summer and show off all their hard work.’

Participants can submit films from any genre and about any subject, as long as it is set in Bradford and is no longer than 10 minutes. Learning resources are available to provide an introduction to the different components of filmmaking and offer handy hints and tips. The films will be judged in the coming months, with prizes for the winning films.

The deadline to sign up to the competition is Wednesday 24 May. Find out more and submit your film for We’re Rolling!
