Safe to speak up? Launch event for new report on sexual harassment in the UK film and television industry since #MeToo
The Stage, Rich Mix, 35 – 37 Bethnal Green Road, London E1 6LA
Join an event hosted by SIGN, the University of York and the Film and TV Charity to launch a new research report from Dr. Anna Bull on sexual harassment in the UK film and television industry.
With an introduction from Marcus Ryder, CEO of the Film and TV Charity, and a panel discussion led by Dr. Anna Bull, the event will present the findings of the report, assess where the industry is at and what progress has been made, and explore next steps.
The report draws on interviews with workers from across the UK film and television industries and it documents experiences of sexual harassment at work that have occurred since the 2017 #MeToo movement.
It reveals that nearly six years on from the 2017 #MeToo movement, the UK film and television industry is still not fulfilling its legal obligations around preventing and responding to sexual harassment in the workplace. Nevertheless, there have been positive changes in culture since #MeToo, with more people willing to speak up about sexual harassment in the workplace.
