Unlocking the Potential of Augmented Reality Masterclass

10:00 am - 24 May 2023

Creativity Lab in the Library, University of York, University Rd, Heslington, YO10 5DD

This masterclass will provide you with a basic understanding of the capabilities of augmented reality (AR) and how you can create content in both a 2D/3D manner using Adobe products (Aero and Dimensions). By undertaking a range of practical exercises and discussions, you will gain an appreciation of simple pipeline processes, as well as exploring your own creative avenues. By the end of the session, you will have started to create your own AR experience. Overall, this is a foundation for you to step into a hybrid world and unlock new experiences through augmentation.

AR is a technology that lets you see the real-life environment with a digital augmentation overlay of images, sounds, or text, that reinforces your reality. This medium is now being applied to the fields of health, games, education, arts, advertising, branding, and other sectors.

You will learn

  • What AR is and how it can help your business, project or research
  • How to create content in both 2D/3D using associated software (Adobe packages)
  • The AR work pipeline processes
  • How to start to create your own AR experience
