The Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) is kicking off a new series of training courses to address skills shortages in the screen industries and the lack of a diverse trainer pool in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The first of these Innovative Training Courses is The Artery, a free programme for participants aged 18-35 living in the Craven or Scarborough districts of North Yorkshire. Developed by York based creative consultancy, Innovate Educate Ltd, the programme offers three days of workshops supported by three mentoring sessions to help those starting out in the screen industries create a business or creative practice. These in person sessions begin next month and focus on both storytelling careers and AR and animation.
Additional Innovative Training Courses will run throughout Autumn 2022 and Winter 2023, and cover a wide range of topics, from demystifying digital storytelling to trans awareness in production. All are funded by SIGN through the Innovative Training Fund, which provides up to £20,000 to both new and established trainers and training providers to develop courses or workshops that tackle a skills gap or support the growth of a diverse workforce in the screen industries in the region.
