Inclusive Growth
The Inclusive Growth research programme is a partnership between SIGN and the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre. The project is gathering evidence to help plan for sustainable, inclusive growth within the Yorkshire and Humber screen industries.
The first phase of the programme – the Screen Industries Census – is the largest study of its kind ever undertaken in the region’s screen sector.
The census is aimed at businesses who work in the Yorkshire and Humber screen industries and a separate workforce survey aims to gather information from employees and freelancers. The research aims to establish a clear picture of the current size and shape of the sector in the region.
Data gathered from the census will provide our research team and partners with insights into the existing situation in terms of workforce diversity. It will generate a valuable baseline from which to shape a future industry that reflects the rich diversity of the people in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The census is part of a wider research programme in partnership with the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre and will inform planning for sustainable and inclusive growth within the region’s screen industries.
The census consists an employer survey and a separate workforce survey.
Employer survey
The employer survey is aimed at businesses, regardless of size or structure, and asks for information about the number of people employed by that business.
Take part in the employer survey.
Workforce survey
The workforce survey is aimed at individuals working in TV, film, games, and associated forms of digital media and content creation for advertising, immersive online, social media and other platforms. It asks a series of questions about occupation, demographic characteristics (such as gender and ethnicity), as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Take part in the workforce survey.
The second phase of the Inclusive Growth research programme will involve analysis of data collected from the census and production of a research report with recommendations in relation to future policy and strategy for the Yorkshire and Humber screen industries.
