Placements, Internships and Insights

Applications for the Placements, Internships and Insights scheme has now closed.

SIGN is offering funding to Yorkshire and Humber-based SMEs to host a placement, internship or insight (work shadowing) opportunity. To be eligible, businesses must operate in any of the screen industries (film, TV, gaming and other creative media).

We are actively supporting people from diverse backgrounds who are currently under-represented in the screen industries. This includes individuals from ethnically underrepresented heritages, those who are disabled, women, those joining or returning to the sector who are aged over 35, those who identify as LGBTQ+ and those from lower socio economic backgrounds.

Applications are open to businesses to apply to host a placement, internship or insight opportunity to the value of £12,000 and for up to six months in duration, commencing from July 2022. Priority will be given to SMEs who’ve not received funding for this type of activity in the past from SIGN. Businesses will be responsible for recruitment and payment processes and must be able to demonstrate how they will market to, and recruit from, the specific target groups we are supporting.

Work experience opportunities are beneficial to both businesses and individuals. They allow companies to fill talent gaps, improve productivity, drive innovation and share knowledge. It also gives individuals an opportunity to experience working in a professional environment whilst learning and developing new skills.

Previous businesses that have benefited from SIGN funded placements, internships and insights include Leeds-based TV and production company, Candour Productions.
