Placements, Internships and Insights
SIGN is offering up to five Yorkshire and Humber-based SMEs funding to host a placement, internship or insight (work shadowing) opportunity. Successful businesses will receive up to £6,000 to pay the individual for up to three months. To be eligible, SMEs must work in any of the screen sector industries (film, TV, gaming and other digital media) and be based in Yorkshire and the Humber.
What are the benefits?
Work experience opportunities present many benefits for both employers, employees and the individual undertaking the placement. They allow businesses to fill talent gaps, provide insight into a role or a sector for those who are looking to get into or develop in an industry, improve productivity or drive innovation, and share knowledge and experience with others.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to SMEs in the Yorkshire and Humber region to apply to host a fully funded placement, internship or insight (work shadowing) from June 2021. Up to £6,000 will be awarded to successful businesses to pay the participant for a maximum of three months.
SMEs will be responsible for the recruitment and payment to the individual and must be able to demonstrate how they will market to and recruit the specific target groups we are seeking to support in their application.
Who are the target groups?
Funding will be awarded to SMEs who can demonstrate that they will support individuals from diverse backgrounds who have been excluded from getting into or developing their career in the screen industries.
We are seeking to support people from ethnically underrepresented backgrounds. This includes those who identify as coming from lower socio-economic backgrounds, disabled people, women, LGBTQ+ people, and those who are aged over 35 joining or returning to the sector.

Applications for this scheme open on Monday 29th March 2021 and close on Sunday 25th April 2021 at 9pm.
