Virtual Production (VP) is revolutionising how film and TV is produced, but the technology is emerging and fast developing. A new training programme through the Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) has been launched to address the skills gap in this area. The programme is an exciting opportunity for early career screen industries professionals to learn more about VP. The course is fully funded and will be delivered in partnership with LightForge Academy.
‘Virtual production is a game-changing set of technologies and production methods for film, television, games and live performance that will radically shift how we make these content forms and the content audiences will experience. The UK can lead the way on this global innovation opportunity if we rapidly upskill, train and invest in the R&D capability of the amazing creatives working across our industries.’ (Professor James Bennett, StoryFutures)
Wendy Sissons, SIGN’s Internships and Bursaries Manager, said, ‘The skills shortages within the UK creative industries need immediate attention and it’s essential these are addressed to ensure the future success of the UK as a world leader in innovation and creative excellence across film and TV. A research report, commissioned by StoryFutures Academy into VP, identifies a significant shortage of screen industry professionals in the UK who have the skills and knowledge to harness this new technology.’
Applications for the programme close at 5pm on Thursday 20 October 2022. Find out more and apply.
