New Bursaries scheme helps people progress in screen industries

The Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) is launching a new scheme to financially support those who face obstacles getting into and getting on in the screen industries in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The SIGN Bursaries scheme is designed to support people who identify as disabled, LGTBQ+, are from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, women, those entering the sector who are aged over 35, and those who are from underrepresented ethnicities.

Applicants can apply for bursaries up to £1,000 to assist with employment or training related opportunities linked to the Yorkshire and Humber region. They may already work in any of the screen sector industries – film, tv, games or other digital media – are looking to get into these industries, or may already work in the sector but want to get on and progress to a different specialism, discipline or sector.

Wendy Sissons, Internships and Bursaries Manager at SIGN, said “We’re absolutely delighted to be offering this opportunity to individuals who are facing barriers either getting into or progressing in the screen industries. It’s something that the whole SIGN team is passionate about and comes at a time when there’s so much good work going on to promote inclusivity and diversity across the sector.”

Applications close at 4pm on Friday, 18 February 2022.
